Bookwa.re Update
A few weeks ago, the startup I work for laid off a portion of their staff. As roles moved around, I ended up in a position with greater responsibility and need for focus.  Stoked as I am about the opportunity, Bookwa.re has again been put on the back burner while I transition into my new role at PhotoRocket.

Bookwa.re
10 weeks ago I challenged myself to build and launch a startup in six weeks - for less than $100. 6 weeks ago I went to the hospital for what I soon discovered was not food poisoning, but rather an infected, ruptured appendix. Recovery time is finally over. Bookwa.re launches this month.

6WSC Update: T-minus 2-4 weeks to launch
I’m very happy with the progress I’ve made over the past few weeks and I’m only running 48 hours behind schedule from my original plan. As I look over the growing list of things to do, I have two choices: 1). Cut corners, finish on time 2). Break the rules, put in another two weeks of elbow grease, and do it right. The obvious choice is the right choice. Here’s to the...

#6WSC - Week 1
Just finished the design PSD for the site - it looks so friggin cool. Can’t stop looking at it. Seeded the design to some folks for feedback. Will post screenshots in the coming weeks when the design gets closer to being final. Everything else is on track. Still tight on time and I’m optimistic I can finish by May 30th. The $100 budget for this project hasn’t been touched yet.

6 Week Startup Challenge - The First 48 Hours
Day 1: Planning The scope of building the site is large enough for one person - let alone someone who only noodles around with HTML/CSS. Adding on top of that the branding, design, marketing, and biz-dev required to pull this off and even I acknowledge how crazy it is to do all this in six weeks. The biggest road block right now is the brand. I’m starting a business and I don’t even...

Six-Week Startup Challenge
Starting today, I’m kicking off a challenge to build and launch a startup in just six weeks - for less than $100.  Can I design, build and launch a company by May 30th and then bootstrap it to profitability as a one-man team? I’ll be documenting the entire process of branding, designing, building, launching, and marketing a startup over the coming weeks. Follow along here or on...

Original Recipe: Pan fried red snapper & bok choy...
I had some fun messing around in the kitchen tonight. The result: pan fried red snapper with bok choy steamed in sake covered with a garlic-sake-miso reduction. Ingredients (for a single serving): 1 medium fillet of red snapper 2-3 heads of baby bok choy  2 cloves of garlic 3/4- 1 tbsp miso paste (depending on how salty it is) 1/3-1/2 cup of junmai sake 1/4 cup of milk 1/4 cup of flour ...

يبحث Confession 3.0
There are still a few more months before I’ll be diving in to update “Owning Y.O.U.” for the second edition printing. To fill the time I’ve decided to work on the third (and hopefully close-to-final) revision of the first book I ever wrote: “The Confession.” I finished the first 235-page draft of the Confession almost four years ago. I’ve enjoyed...

I Love Amazon Fresh, But This is a Problem
It’s true, I do ♥ Amazon Fresh. I love getting my groceries delivered to my house for free (albeit with a high minimum purchase). The prices are comparable to what you find in the grocery stores, and in my experience, the produce is even better. To top it all off, they even gave me this free bumper sticker with my latest order. My latest order. Looks like a lot of food, right? ...

Facebook Closes Page for Unemployed Seeking Help
About a year ago I started a Facebook Fan page called “Damn, I need a Job!” (DINAJ) which I used to connect my friends with job opportunities from other people in my network. I never intended on growing the group, I just wanted a place to share opportunities and help people I cared about. For the longest time, the group never had more than 70-80 fans. A few days into February, I...

University of Washington Student Seeks Help With...
As some of you know I’m t-minus 6 months (and counting) from graduation at the University of Washington. I’ve been very lucky in my college career to earn credits by doing things I love like starting a business and write a book. I’ve been aching for an excuse to get a solid film project under my belt and decided to do a documentary for my graduation project. The documentary...

"I Hate The Sound of My Voice"
Many of the people I talk with about creating audio or video content for their personal brands are concerned about how their voice sounds when recorded. While many of these individuals are very confident when interacting with other people, they’re surprisingly insecure when they listen or watch any recordings of themselves. I was was one of these people a few years ago until Justin Robert...

Chiaka's Hermes
Picked up this painting tonight from a homeless-artist. The guy clearly has talent and is working hard to share his passion with other people (it was below freezing outside and yet he was out on the streets working his craft). Chiaka is a prime example of someone working their ass off to build their personal brand. While he may be sleeping on concrete tonight, if Chiaka continues to show as much...

Cyber Monday Pre-Release Book Sale!
Owning Y.O.U. doesn’t officially go on sale till next year, but I have a small stock of books that I’m making available for the holiday season. This may be the only time the book is available for sale before the official release next year. If you’re the parent or relative of a young adult or college student, Owning Y.O.U. will teach them how to stand out from the crowd and...
