About a year ago I started a Facebook Fan page called “Damn, I need a Job!” (DINAJ) which I used to connect my friends with job opportunities from other people in my network. I never intended on growing the group, I just wanted a place to share opportunities and help people I cared about. For the longest time, the group never had more than 70-80 fans.
A few days into February, I noticed a sudden jump in the fan base: 20 new fans; a sizable jump but nothing to write home about. A week later, the group was nearly 1,000 people strong and I got to thinking that DINAJ could become a resource for more than job opportunities, but job seeking, interviewing, and personal branding tips as well.
Two weeks later, the group had surpassed 100k fans.

Over these few weeks I enjoyed engaging with the fans of this community and spent a good deal of time thinking about the best way to make this a great employment resource.
The deathnote arrived from Facebook, February 24th.

My guess is Facebook classifies DINAJ as a fan page that ‘represents generic concepts’. It’s the only thing that makes sense. While the page is still live, my ability to publish new content to the page has been revoked. This isn’t a pity story for me, but rather for the individuals seeking employment help.
I’m just sorry I couldn’t contribute more.
